It has been a long time since I posted here. I sort of forgot this existed (or at least pretended to). I have debated on what to turn this blog into. Eventually, I would like to turn this into more than a play-by-play of the Jeter household, and into more of a help to other married couples or people thinking about getting married or to maybe deter some people from getting married (kidding…maybe).

So much has happened since the last post here. Steve now works two jobs and one on the side and I have a few of my own. Still we are blessed with quite a bit of family time. We both enjoy our work, so it doesn’t usually feel like work. Jack is a 1st grader that has his teacher telling me pretty hilarious stories on a regular basis. Luke is in our Pre-K program (the original pre-k, not the one Denish thinks will solve all of our problems) and he is doing fantastically. I, being immersed in the Early Childhood Education culture, struggle with parenting styles on a regular basis and hope to go through “Shepherding a Young Child’s Heart” soon. Perhaps I will discuss that on here as well.

We spent our evening at an Oscar party last night. I felt very old when we left the party at 10:30 exhausted and ready for bed. It’s always great to get out and meet new people though. The New Mexico film industry has been growing and we have been honored to be able to celebrate with everyone every year at this party at the Hyatt. We had the pleasure of hanging out with Keith from Great Face & Body last night, and am looking forward to getting this dry skin patched up. I promise (to myself, since i am the only one who reads this) that i will blog more and add more photos!! I’m looking forward to collaborating on a new blog with Heidi. I’ll post more about that soon. Back to helping my husband play Heavy Rain.

So Steve got a great job at a local ratio station, and loves it. Tomorrow we get to go to his work party at Santa Ana Star Casino’s Bowling Alley. We shall see how that goes. It’s nice that he has a job that he enjoys and a job where he is valued. It’s not every job where you feel like you are a part of something special.

I’m working on climbing up the star ladder for child care centers in New Mexico. I’m comfy where we are, but that’s just not gonna happen. I’m leaning on uncharted territory, but am excited. Luckily, I have my sister, who is the people person of the family. She is much better with people than I am. I could hide at my desk for hours and be okay with that, but i’m working on being more visible. Someday, If I have the opportunity to have my own center, I will have to actually attempt to be a people person.

We are definitely ready for Christmas, but first my nephew’s birthday. Then we snowball into Luke’s birthday, my birthday and my other nephew’s birthday. The more the merrier, right?

I’ll be gladly spending some quality time in Durango with my best friend between now and my birthday (to be documented).

adventures of unemployment

If you don’t know, Steve has recently found himself unemployed (although the tv show is still in progress). I would have to admit that at first I was mortified at the thought of not knowing what in the world we were going to do without a chunk of income. The whole thing was quite a shock, yet somehow, I think we both knew it needed to happen. We needed the sheer thought of the unknown to make us let go of certain things in our lives that needed to go. It sounds strange to say, but we needed to be unsure. We needed to release some trust in ourselves.

So, since we have a bit more time on our hands, I’ve turned into an infomercial for ideas I’ve had on the backburner for a long time. Steve has been my sounding board for things I’ve been dying to do, but haven’t been able to, because it felt too overwhelming to face on my own.

Certain things changed. We decided that once a week, we will take a break from life and spend lunch with each other. So far, we have dated at Saggios and Olympia Cafe. My goal is to discover some new favorites around town and to share them here. I hope to share other ideas here too. We have visited the Los Ranchos Growers’ Market, and plan on making a routine of this. We will definitely be there October 3rd for the fishhugger!

I hope to share our adventures here. I hope to share our fears and explorations. I hope to celebrate when some of my weird ideas come to fruition. Pray for us as we delve into some wonderful unknowns. This will be our lives as we are growing and learning together. We have begun again, and will drag you with us through our mud and our sunshine.
